Client's objectives
Celebrating Zalando’s first international tech hub
The Dublin office will retain its focus on data science and provide Zalando with the tools it needs to drive strategic growth through artificial intelligence and leveraging its large datasets, bringing together product managers, designers, data scientists and software engineers from all backgrounds in Dublin’s Docklands.
Zalando is a fashion company, a website, and a lot more! Their office is in the Windmill Quarter in Dublin 2 in a cut stone warehouse with a vaulted ceiling. So it was important for Zalando’s real estate team to optimise and highlight the protected architectural features of the building while repurposing it to include state-of-the-art technology and connectivity.
Scope of work
The project entailed interior design and refurbishment of a protected structure to form a vibrant, comfortable workspace whilst respecting the character of the existing building.
- Scope included: Vibrant Open Plan Office Area.
- Large all hands/presentation space
- Staff entertainment areas & ancillary meeting spaces.
- The utilisation of soft furnishings & acoustic treatments throughout that complemented and harmonised with the appearance of the appealing high pitched roof space.
Unique challenges of the project
Working within a protected structure in a busy city centre location.
FKM approach to solving the challenges
Many engineers were happy to contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives, blogs, meet-ups, conferences, etc. These typically contribute to their own role in terms of learning and creating an environment that really works for the company. Continuing that culture of creativity is the success story that drove the triumph of this project
